Hip Dysplasia

hipdysplacia.jpg

The malformation of the Hip Joint. A common skeletal painful condition that can affect just one hip, or both, causing pain and swelling. In a normal hip joint, the round Femoral Head fits smoothly into a deep acetabulum (cup shaped cavity). But with Hip Dysplasia, the joint has a shallow socket and irregular shaped ball, this means there is uneven contact with the joint surfaces, the joint becomes unstable and in time deforms the bone. The looseness of the joint can erode it, causing inflammation and bone modelling, resulting in Arthritis or Degenerative Joint Disease.
