Osteoarthritis
Also known as degenerative joint disease (DJD), this is the most common form of Arthritis in Dogs. Osteoarthritis is the term referring to a form of chronic joint inflammation. The condition tends to affect the limbs and is defined as being the progressive and permanent long-term deterioration of the cartilage surrounding the joints, causing inflammation. The thickening of the joint capsule and new bone formation around the joint lead to pain and limb dysfunction.
